Cameron Design House
The very special Cameron Design House is an award-winning British bespoke sculptural lighting company founded by Ian Cameron. Its works have become synonymous with unique, contemporary design and refined craftsmanship.
Every piece is conceived and handcrafted in London, which has grown into a globally recognised design studio, with quality and precision as their inherent trademark. Using organic and precisely engineered elements, they create custom feature installations which are handmade to a client's specific requirements, allowing for bespoke sizing, configuration and finish.
Ian has a shared history between the United Kingdom and Finland and has combined the influences of vibrant central London and the tranquil Nordic countryside into his sculptural pieces. Proudly designed and made in Britain, embracing the British tradition of exploring the far reaches of possibility together with the Nordic premise of clean lines and maximising lightness. The Cameron Design House prioritises both form and function to achieve beautiful, enduring designs.
Gallery FUMI
Gallery FUMI is a crush for many designers. There were fewer specialist galleries, fairs and rather less of an audience for unique and limited edition design works, when Sam Pratt and Valerio Capo decided to open Gallery FUMI. Since then, it has been fascinating to observe how each show they have staged, and each designer or artist they have nurtured, has made such a coherent contribution to their thesis.
When we think of Gallery FUMI now, it is perhaps firstly the beauty of materials that comes to mind, whether in the form of Rowan Mersh’s unique use of shells or Sam Orlando Miller’s explorations into the complexities of the mirror. Each artist in their stable demonstrates an integrity of thought which is harder to quantify, but ultimately unites them. It is this balance between the mind and the hand, the material and the emotion, which has led them from East London to Mayfair where they now, quite rightly, have a place as one of the city’s most innovative and watchable developers of original, desirable works.
The Carpenters Workshop Gallery
The Carpenters Workshop Gallery transcends classical borders in terms of art & design. Its proposal stands just at the intersection of these two universes: reaching precisely a symbiosis of art and design.
The Carpenters Workshop Gallery produces and exhibits functional sculptures by both International rising and already established artists and designers going outside their traditional territories of expression.
The gallery is actively involved in the research and production of the limited edition works exhibited. The choices are guided by the research of an emotional, artistic and historical relevance; a relevance that appears as an evidence.
The gallery relies on the partnership of childhood friends, Julien Lombrail and Loic Le Gaillard, dedicated to artistic research and development, bringing together the elite of artisans, an homage to the French heritage of ‘Arts Décoratifs’. The Carpenters Workshop Gallery is an unstoppable design force among the International territory of art & design.
The David Gill Gallery
David Gill is an old favourite of ours. David inaugurated his first gallery on London’s Fulham Road in 1987. From the very start on opening the gallery he exhibited work by world-renowned artists such as Jean Cocteau, Giacometti, Yves Klein and Henri Matisse. The first furniture he sold included historic pieces by Le Corbusier, Jean-Michel Frank and Eileen Gray.
David began to collaborate with Artists, Architects and Designers to establish a new canon of limited edition pieces, exhibiting minimalist artist Donald Judd’s furniture in 1990.
Over the last thirty years, the David Gill Gallery has evolved into a global presence, exhibiting in all major cities and institutions. Its dynamic contemporary program features exhibitions and collaborations with leading international artists, architects, and designers. These include Barnaby Barford, Mattia Bonetti, the Campana Brothers, Sir David Chipperfield, Michele Oka Doner, Sebastian Brajkovic, the late Dame Zaha Hadid, Jorge Pardo, Garouste & Bonetti, Daniel Libeskind, Sebastian Errazuriz, Milena Muzquiz, José Yaque, Lena Peters and Fredrikson Stallard.
Since its establishment, the gallery has presented historically important exhibitions and works that can be found in esteemed private and public museum collections, including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco. David Gill has been honoured both with the Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts & des Lettres and as Officier of the Ordre des Arts & des Lettres. His work offers a unique insight into the world of a man whose attention to detail and unfaltering eye for the beautiful is widely regarded as without equal.
Achille Salvagni
Achille Salvagni is a fascinating perfectly tailored, highly creative Atelier. The two-story space features handcrafted plaster walls, locally sourced wood floors, and a poetic assortment of sculptural furnishings and lighting. Achille Salvagni’s ambition “has always been to work with the best, whether that is the craftsmen, our material choices, my team, and my clients. We set very high standards for ourselves, and when you enter the new gallery space you should get that sense. It’s an experience and an opportunity to cross a threshold where at least for a moment you can dream and imagine these pieces in your own life as well as the infinite possibilities we could create for you. The gallery gives a sense of wonder and aspiration and also affirms our position at the forefront of collectible design and contemporary architecture.”
His work is a combination of mid-century chic, precision character and delight combined in the most exquisitely crafted pieces, in his material richness, impeccable craftsmanship, and deeply layered narrative, resulting in work that is both philosophical and romantic. Growing up in Rome, he was greatly influenced by its history and design heritage – the materials, patina, architectural legacy, and especially the 1920s and 1930s that he reflects upon as a period when Italian designers were looking at the future while taking stock of the past. This philosophy can be seen in everything Achille Salvagni designs.
