Boutique Irish Manor House - Work in progress

Cork, Ireland

WOOLF Interior Design and Interior Architecture implemented a full interior design scheme for a boutique Irish manor house. The property was a small holding consisting of a house and coach house, which architects extended hugely to seamlessly combine the two, and add in a vaulted-ceiling drawing room.

The property had the potential to feel very dark and cold in this setting, so we added warmth and comfort through comfortable and characterful fabrics and furnishings. For this, we delved into the Watts of Westminster archives and found original fabrics from the house’s era, and turned to Pugin design and influence for the ceiling design.

We needed to work in harmony with the classic and traditional architecture and enhance the spatial volumes of each room. Additionally, we put in new fireplaces where they were missing, that were in keeping with the building and heritage of the architecture. Whilst still aiming for as close to net Zero carbon values as we can achieve.
