WOOLF Studio London

In 2009, Verity set up the WOOLF Studio in London creating a collaborative team of expert designers based in West London. Since establishing WOOLF Interior Architecture and Interior Design in West London, Verity and the team have gone on to design for many intriguing and notable clients who work with Verity as they are captivated by her discreet, fun loving and engaging attitude.

The WOOLF Story

Having originally worked as an art director and production designer in film and television, founder Verity Woolf gained recognition for her exceptional talent in creating vision from the character and narrative of the projects she worked on. Wanting to design permanent spaced Verity completed her Masters in Interior Architecture and became a Senior Interior Designer in a London based Architectural practice, where she worked on an array of fascinating interior design projects including hotel interiors, restaurants, residential developments and many commercial redesigns.

By approaching the design of interiors like a curator, spaces are tailored, individual and characterful. Each WOOLF project is looked at afresh and designed based on the Client’s specific aesthetic and design brief rather than using an adopted ‘in-house’ style. “We love this approach as it ensures that all our projects are unique, fresh, distinct and beautifully tailored to our Client’s individual style – we are lucky that the variety of projects drives us creatively!”

The projects that WOOLF Interior Architecture and Interior Design have had the privilege to work on have been wide and varied. Our work spans interior architecture, interior design and decoration. The majority of our projects are high-end residential and hotel schemes located in a wide geographical reach.

Commercial Interior Design

Our commercial arm has had the privilege to consult on several world-renowned luxury hotels including the Four Seasons Jumeirah in Dubai, The Maybourne Group’s Claridges in Mayfair, London Oceanic House and the Admiralty Arch on The Mall, London.  We have also been lucky enough to have been instructed on the refresh and interior design of a number of exclusive London Livery Clubs, really allowing us to showcase our heritage design work, paying particular attention to techniques and historic detailing such as guilding, artwork restoration and paint analysis. The renewal, repair and potentially replacement of historic wallpaper, upholstery, joinery, tiles and flooring in these historic buildings is a fascinating process that has enabled WOOLF Interior Architecture and Interior Design to forge some excellent and longstanding relationships with a variety of specialist trades people. Working on the restoration and preservation of these majestic, listed period properties requires modern day designers such as ourselves to enhance and preserve their majesty. The ability to ‘enhance and preserve’ the nature of a space is a specialist skill which requires years of experience and training to obtain the level of sensibility required.

Craftsmanship and Bespoke Furniture

Craftsmanship and sustainable design are the corner stones of our Interior Design practice, we work with the very best makers and design partners who share our ethos.  We always aim to support traditional artisans and skill sets that are ever increasingly being sidelined.  We will source, design and rework vintage or historic designs based upon classical constructions, theories and proportions, creating timeless heritage pieces built with love, to last. Our bespoke designs are unique pieces made to order. Not only do these items then fit the space perfectly but they leave a legacy for future generations. The Bath Studio

In 2019 the WOOLF team decided it was time to expand and so added a new interior design studio to the London studio opening in the World Heritage City of Bath. The founder Verity Woolf returned to Bath and her "alma mater" Westonbirt roots to find a magnificent city full of eighteenth century buildings and sweeping crescents, classical architecture, Roman history and modern structures, “Its is uplifting to be surrounded by grace and beauty in Bath every day”.

Opening a design studio in the City of Bath has enabled us to expand our presence into Somerset, Bristol, Frome, the West Country and beyond, down to Devon and Cornwall, while also maintaining our important London studio and work throughout the UK and beyond.

The WOOLF Bath studio is located on Upper Lansdown Crescent, an area of Bath with distinctive Georgian architectural features, located on the slopes just above the famous Royal Crescent, The Circus and neighbouring Sion Hill and the Bath School of Art & Design. The City of Bath has proved to be the most inspiring place to work from for our interior design team and we love working between the Bath and London Studios, gleaning the best from both fabulous cities and all they have to offer.

Bath is full of history, yet the city never stands still, there is always change and movement and this makes it an exciting place to be. Explore WOOLF Historic projects.  With the vast array of stunning Georgian property, the Bath team has been fortunate enough to be involved in some fascinating projects and consultations involving Listed townhouses, historic landmark buildings and hotels as well as more contemporary projects.

Specialising in Georgian Period Property

When redesigning a Georgian home interior WOOLF Interior Design & Interior Architecture work to enhance and retain the aesthetic uniqueness of an old home; all that is especially valued including the wonky floorboards, timber sash windows, fireplaces, panelling, plasterwork, cornices, original doors, shutters and balusters. However, we also work to flood the property’s space with natural and layers of decorative lighting, add luxurious bathrooms, a fantastic open plan kitchen and maybe even extend the proportions of a period home with a modern glass extension. WOOLF Interior Design & Interior Architecture is an Accredited Interior Design Practice who specialise in Historic, Period and Listed buildings. We aim to make these fabulous Heritage assets fit for modern living and offer these grand and unique spaces a new lease of life. At WOOLF Interior Design & Interior Architecture we delight in the transformation, alongside the sense of achievement in coaxing the best from a property’s rare old parts with careful restoration.

Our Sion Hill project is a really great example of redesigning a quintessential Georgian town house in Bath where we retained and enhanced the inherent Georgian features of the house but refurbished it in a really contemporary manner, so that it was fitting for a modern young family. It is a charming and characterful Grade II listed bow-fronted Georgian villa, which sits just behind the Royal Crescent in central Bath. The original Georgian characteristics of this house were well preserved, charming and in great condition, including the long large sash windows, shutters, hallways, winding stairs and original Georgian cornices. We designed the interiors in such a way as to maintain the Georgian aesthetic, whilst also creating a fun vibrant family home full of colour and texture.
